CHRIST-CENTERED DEVOTIONAL POETRY

All of these poems are offered in the true spirit of Christian devotional poetry. Each selection is thoroughly evangelical both in doctrine and in spirit. I have called this work Devotional Poetry because of its twofold purpose. The poems are designed to allow me to fully express the profound devotion of my own spirit toward the Lord. They are also designed to excite and stimulate the emotions of the reader's spirit toward a deeper devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. The excitement and expression of emotional devotion toward the Lord is a wellspring of worship for the Christian. Poetry is the language of the heart; Christian poetry is the language of the redeemed heart. The deep things of the Lord call to the deep recesses of the heart for expression. Devotional poetry is a partial answer to that call!

This work is offered as a sweet smelling sacrifice to the Lord. The imagery I have carefully chosen is dignified and reverent. I have attempted to avoid all that is unscriptural, light, fanciful, cumbrous and surface. Although, all of these poems are carefully measured and adapted for private meditation and worship, many of these poems are not well adapted as sacred lyric poetry. It is my earnest prayer however, that every syllable of every poem will assist the reader in focusing more intently on the Lord in a rich overflow of worship.

The Reader will find the poems arranged in sections that follow a spiritually logical order, climaxing with the glorious finished work of our Substitute Savior.
