I, THE LORD, AM YOUR GOD, WHO BROUGHT
YOU UP FROM THE LAND OF EGYPT ; OPEN YOUR
MOUTH WIDE AND I WILL FILL IT (Psalm 81:10)
The God of our redemption says, Open your mouth wide and I will fill it. Is that a promise ? Is He saying, If you open your mouth wide, I promise I will fill it.? Certainly, the Bible is full of promises that assure the seeker that he will not seek in vain. God is ever ready to grant His abundant provision to those who come as fledglings, with their mouths opened wide.
Open your mouth wide and I will fill it is that an invitation ? Is He encouraging us to come to Him with receptive hearts and spirits? Is He inviting us to come with our mouths opened wide so that He can minister unto us?
Open your mouth wide and I will fill it is that a challenge ? Is God saying, Let me see if you can open your mouth wider than I can respond by filling it? God always waits on our capacity to receive. It is not possible to come with too great a need.
When we come to study His Word, let us ever be mindful of the indispensable principle. Only God can reveal Himself! We must come with our mouths opened wide. Our openness and receptive heart is our one qualification as we come. The Lord gives us a promise; the Lord gives us an invitation; Yes, the Lord gives us a challenge: Open your mouth wide and I will fill it Those who are not filled, have never opened their mouths. Those who are not abundantly filled, have never opened their mouths wide! God's part is filling; our part is receiving the filling!
